Sophie enjoyed a chocolate-covered raisin! March 28, 2009

Here is Sophie feeling tall on a mattress we had propped up on a wall!!100_0496

This week Sophie supposedly ate a chocolate covered raisin.  I did not see it with my own eyes, but my neighbor children said they saw Sophie eat it!  Raisins are very toxic to dogs.  Some dogs are immune, but you should never give you dog raisins or grapes.  And as you all know, dogs are not supposed to have chocolate.  I didn’t want to alarm my neighbors, so I played it off like it was no big deal.  When I got home, Sophie appeared fine but I decided to call the vet just in case.  I called the vet, and he said she should be fine if it was just one.  They told me to bring her in should she start vomiting, acting lathragic, or not acting like herself.

As you can tell, she survived…and enjoying life…a little too much…

Our New House February 2, 2009

Here are some pictures taken last week of the progress on our house being built.  They have the walls up now!  Yay!!  These pictures were taken just after the foundation was done.  We were told that even with the recent ice storm, they are ahead of schedule.

The morning I took these photos, I had walked up from the apartment complex.  As I was walking I saw a man facing the road from a distance, and I couldn’t figure out what we was doing.  He happend to look up, see me, and proceed to act incredibly suprised.  He almost jumped.  It was then that I realized he was urinating!!  He acted like he didn’t know what to do, so he turned towards one of the houses being built.  When he was finished with his job, he zipped up faster than lightening, and ran back inside.  LOL  Urinating in the middle of the city, facing the road…REALLY??

Oh my goodness!!  I haven’t written if forever.  Not that I ever have anything too important to say.  :)   With 13hrs of school and working part time I have more on my plate than ever before.

On the Sophie front…
Sophie has learned two new tricks:  roll over and shake.  Here is a video for your viewing pleasure.

Also, Sophie got a boyfriend that her grandparents are very concerned about.  Sophie met him at Petsmart.

Bath Time for Sophie December 14, 2008

This is my first video upload.  I did it all by myself without the help of my wonderful, handsome computer geek husband.  I promise, I did it myself.  Ok, so maybe I had a little help…or maybe a lot.  You will never know!!

This is a video of Sophie and her reaction to being told that it is time for bath.  I just love saying “Bath Time” and watching her melt, so I thought I would share.

After her bath Sophie runs around, snorts, and rubs her ears on the floor.  Then, I have to comb her hair again…sigh!  She snorts several times in this video, but the volume has to be up fairly high so you can hear her.

In the background of these two clips you can hear it icing outside.  Little pieces of ice were falling out of the sky.  I took video of that as well, but my voice in the background was too annoying to post…  Anyway, it was 75 degrees here today so it feels very strange to have a snow/ice mixture on the ground after such a warm day.

Sophie’s Thanksgiving Trip December 2, 2008

Sophie gets extremely nervous in the car.  She shakes, yawns, and whines every long car trip.  It upsets us that she is so nervous so we gave her some benadryl this time.  She was very calm and happy most of the trip.  Here is our poor drugged dog.  Next time we will drug her again.  It made the trip much more enjoyable for all of us.

On the way to the farm, Oklahoma built a welcome center on the border.  It has a dog park in it.  There is a section for large dogs and one for small dogs.  Sophie looks forward to using that sometime.  I didn’t let her play there this time, because there was too much poop.  Maybe next time…

Thanksgiving Winter Wonderland November 30, 2008

Friday, after Thanksgiving, this is what I woke up to on the Doll Farm (my parent’s house).  It snowed the perfect amount on the perfect day.  It was absolutely beautiful!

Here is a view of my dad’s farm from our house.

Sophie LOVES the farm.  Did I mention Sophie LOVES the farm???

Sophie was like a flash of lightening!

There are more pictures to come.  I could have dropped the camera and it would have been a good picture….except trying to catch Sophie.  That was quite a challenge.

Sophie Picture November 20, 2008

I haven’t posted Sophie pictures in awhile!

This is what Sophie does if she has done something bad.  If we get home and she is laying on the floor like this instead of greeting us at the stairs…she has torn up a Kleenex.  She just really can’t help herself when it comes to those Kleenexes.  Poor Sophie…we don’t even have to punish her.  She has a self-punishing command!

On a lighter note….here is Sophie with her hoodie:

She thinks she is really cool….

Actually, she thinks she has a really mean mommy for making her wear this….

It is ok as I long as she is getting her belly rubbed….

And remember…no Kleenexes for Sophie….

Puppysitting September 29, 2008

Our friends have the most adorable new little Pomeranian puppy named Lea.  We get to puppysit on weekends while they go to the OSU games.  She got tired while she was here last time and walked into Sophie’s kennel and laid down for a nap.  Sophie, in turn, climbed into Lea’s bed.  How cute is that??

Wasabi in Tulsa June 21, 2008

Filed under: Food,Sophie,Tulsa Food Blog — 10:44 am

Ryan and I have been eating at Asahi in Tulsa for two years. This new sushi place, Wasabi, opened across from Asahi on the other side of 71st. I got Ryan to take me there two weekends ago. When we walked in the wait staff looked familiar. Then we sat down and got our menus?wait?.. the menu items looked familiar as well. In fact, most of the menu items where the same as the ones at Asahi (but, the menu was way nicer)! We called over our waiter and asked what was going on. He had another lady come over to talk with us. This lady, in particular, had served us many times before at Ashai. She told us that the original owner of Asahi had sold the business six years ago to get more experience working at larger sushi restaurants. Then he decided to come back to Tulsa and start another sushi eatery. The atmosphere is great, every table gets Edamame before the meal (which I love), the place is super clean, the items we ordered were extremely fresh, the staff is more friendly at Wasabi than they are at Asahi, and my husband and I will keep going back.  You should try it for yourself!

This is the actual Sushi Bar.

This was my meal.  The unagi was amazing.

This was Ryan’s meal….well after he was almost done eating.  It was a ton of food, plus they gave us a free roll and a free appetizer.

The outside looks nice.

Aunt Jennifer’s New Puppy April 27, 2008

My Aunt Jennifer got a black toy poodle puppy just like Sophie! It was so cute. It made me want another one. When we got to her house, we could see through the front door the little puppy laying in a big pink bed with her big pink bow. It was adorable.
