The back –
I was told that this plant is almost impossible to kill. And if it does die, water it and it will come back to life.

So pretty and delicate looking

Gerbera Daisies I was talked into buying…

I love love love hydrangeas, so I hope this little bush does very well. And if it doesn’t live for a year, I was told at Lowes that I could get a refund. Plant insurance — who would have thunk it??

Also, I bought several cloth napkins so I don’t need to buy/use paper napkins. I bought them on sale at JCPenny. They were 75% off (about $0.75/napkin). It is actually very nice using cloth napkins. It feels as if your eating at a restaurant.

I think I will keep buying toilet paper… My husband might move away if I stop buying it. LOL

We said goodbye to our trusty Saeco and hello to a one-touch wonder. It grinds the beans, steams the milk, and cleans itself. We used our Saeco so much we knew we would love a newer model that would save us time. This is so cool that, after staying with us, my mom went and bought one too.

This week Sophie supposedly ate a chocolate covered raisin. I did not see it with my own eyes, but my neighbor children said they saw Sophie eat it! Raisins are very toxic to dogs. Some dogs are immune, but you should never give you dog raisins or grapes. And as you all know, dogs are not supposed to have chocolate. I didn’t want to alarm my neighbors, so I played it off like it was no big deal. When I got home, Sophie appeared fine but I decided to call the vet just in case. I called the vet, and he said she should be fine if it was just one. They told me to bring her in should she start vomiting, acting lathragic, or not acting like herself.

As you can tell, she survived…and enjoying life…a little too much…

Recently I decided to be more green and use reusable bags when doing my shopping. Originally my thoughts were that it was more green and so I should do it even it was inconvenient. Now, I feel inconvenienced if I forget my reusable bags. During a typical week I can fit all my groceries into 2-3 reusable bags from Whole Foods as opposed to 15-20 plastic bags. It is so much nicer carrying up 2-3 reusable bags that I don’t have to worry about tearing and that fit over my shoulder than 15-20 plastic bags.

Jazzercise put out some statistics:

14 plastic bags contain enough petroleum to drive a car one mile

380 billion plastic bags are thrown away in America per year (JUST AMERICA!!)

Paper bags don?t biodegrade in landfills due to lack of oxygen (So don?t feel good about using paper instead of plastic! It is just as bad)

Also, I have started refusing plastic bags at smaller stores, because I can normally carry everything out to my car without a bag. If I do get plastic bags, I pick up Sophie?s poop with them. That is my form of recycling plastic bags! Hey, I am sure my neighbors appreciate it!

As I said earlier, my favorite reusable bags are the ones from Whole Foods. Their bags are only $0.99. According to Whole Foods’ website:

It can take more than a thousand years for a disposable plastic bag to break down in a landfill. Most reusable bags can be used thousands of times and there are so many reusable bag options! Thousands of customers and Team Members support our Core Value to “care about our communities and the environment.”

Today I had a semi-creative moment. My mom is coming to stay with me for a week, so I am getting busy and getting my office ready for her to stay in. My office has this huge window in it and it faces East (sunrise). Last time my mom stayed the sun was really bright and woke her up way to early. Wanting my mom to sleep later on this visit, so I can sleep later , I wanted to figure out a way to cover up the window without spending any money. This is what I came up with. It is a blanket that my mom gave me. How ironic is that? Anyway it is thin enough to fit over the top of blinds and thick enough to shut out the sun. I am hoping this will keep the room cooler as well.

This morning Ryan woke me up and told me I needed to call the Chiropractor because his hands were numb. I laid in bed trying to absorb that information (which I couldn’t) and decided to go back to sleep. Ryan decided to call the Chiropractor himself on his way to work since I didn’t feel the same urgency as he felt! Well, the Chiropractor told him to come right on in. They popped his wrists and all was better. Now how weird is that, to go to the Chiropractor so he can pop your wrists. hahahaha….that is my hubby. Apparently he uses his wrists and hands a lot at work…

Last week some friends had a garage sale. I told my husband, Ryan, that I too wanted to sell some stuff. He said I could sell several of his books. After listing his books, I started going through my books and added the ones that worth something that I didn’t want anymore. Then- I couldn’t stop! I started listing gifts that I hadn’t used, bowls that I rarely use, and other random things. Well, the sales started coming in. So far, I have sold a bunch of books and a salad spinner (for $20 — I couldn’t believe I got that much). Right now, Amazon owes us $256. If you have unused stuff laying around, get yourself an account on amazon.com and start selling. It is so fun!!

Here is a link where Amazon.com explains the whole selling process including shipping.

Amazon will credit your seller account for the amount they estimate the shipping to be. For shipping books, they credit your account for $3.99. Most of the books that I have sold I have shipped media mail and usually it is under 3.99. The stinky part is packaging the book. Amazon.com requires that you mail your packages in a padded envelope. These are $1-$2 depending on the size you get. I have found that they are the cheapest at Walmart. If you find them cheaper somewhere else, let me know!

For other items, I make sure that they are selling for enough that I don?t have to worry about losing money on shipping.
